Users can log on to SystmOne with a user name and password, or if they prefer, using biometrics. Access rights then control the functions available to each user. Patients can be identified using a fingerprint scanner or by attaching a photograph to their patient record.
An audit trail is maintained, recording every retrieval, amendment or print-out from a patient record. Security measures exist to ensure that external health care professionals are unable to access data entered within a prison.
