Adastra Integration Update: Positive Progress

The two GP practices currently piloting the integration of Adastra Out-of-Hours Incident Reports into SystmOne have reported back to TPP with success.

New functionality in SystmOne enables Out of Hours sites using Adastra software to send Patient Incident Reports to SystmOne GP sites electronically.

A Patient Incident Report provides a GP practice with details of an encounter between an Out of Hours service and one of their patients. The report contains details of the nature of the consultation, the clinician seen, the patient's reported condition and the clinician's consultation notes. The GP practice can add notes and Read codes to the Incident Report before filing it into the patient's record.

The clinical benefits of electronic transferral of these Incident Reports is clear - the GP can see as soon as they log on to SystmOne that the patient was seen by an Out of Hours unit the previous evening. The GP doesn’t need to wait for practice staff to scan, process and file the Incident Report - SystmOne has done it all for them.

Traditionally, Patient Incident Reports are sent to the GP practice by fax. Staff members then have to scan the report and file it into the patient's notes. However, Adastra integration means that the reports can be sent electronically to SystmOne - no need for faxes. The reports are then matched automatically to a patient, and filed (manually or automatically depending on the settings configured) into the patient record. For staff at the GP practice, this saves both time and paper.

The two practices involved in the pilot (both based in Wiltshire PCT), have reported that Out-of-Hours tasks have been successfully received by SystmOne. Joleen Medlycott, IT Administrator at Adcroft Surgery, says, "It's a lot easier now. The faster process has the potential to cut down our workload. We can file the reports easily and we're saving paper!"

TPP Customer Relationship Manager, Kerry Guthrie says, "We are really pleased with the success of the pilots so far. They will run until the end of June, and then the Adastra integration will be rolled out on a PCT by PCT basis."

Interested PCTs are invited to register their interest in rolling out the Adastra integration in their area by emailing enquiries@tpp-uk.com.
