On Tuesday May 1st 2007, representatives from TPP and CSC attended the
Management In Practice Event (MIPE) at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester,
attended by 500 Practice Managers.
The Management in Practice Event is dedicated to Practice Managers and supports
the publication 'Management in Practice', the first journal specifically
designed to directly address the ever-expanding role and responsibilities
of today’s primary care practice manager.
TPP Director Sue Sanders, and Clinical Director, Dr John Parry, presented
SystmOne in a presentation entitled 'Integrated Primary Care and its effect
on the practice'. The discussion focussed on how SystmOne used across care
settings has been proven to benefit clinicians, administration staff and
patients. Sue and John demonstrated how SystmOne can help practices run more
efficiently, saving time and money. They also highlighted Practice-based
Commissioning, QOF, shared care, Out-Of-Hours, and business processes.
"The aim of attending the event was to raise awareness of SystmOne and of
its benefits," said Dr Parry. "In the presentation, we focussed on three
sets of benefits: patient benefits - increased safety through shared records;
practice benefits - standardising data recording through using templates
and formularies in a uniform way; and practitioner benefits - such as use
of Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS), learning notes and website bookmarks
within SystmOne."
Dr Parry continued, "We had a lot of interest. There were some Practice Managers
who had never heard of TPP or SystmOne so to reach them through this event
was great. We hope that the Practice Managers we spoke to will return to
their surgeries, have a conversation with their colleagues about SystmOne,
and speak to their PCTs about the options available to them."
TPP and CSC will be attending another MIPE event at the NEC in Birmingham on
October 10th 2007.
