Image Capture Device to be Integrated into SystmOne
On 27th February 2008, we announced the integration of the Numed Biolog 3000i ECG device into SystmOne.
TPP and Numed now plan to work together to enable more of their equipment to be compatible with SystmOne, allowing readings to be transferred directly into the patient record. The aim is to provide a clinical system that works in conjunction with other technologies, not just in parallel with them. Linking technologies will enable clinicians to work more efficiently and will make entering data into the patient record much easier.
One of the products in the pipeline is Numed Capture. This is a specially designed auto-focus camera with integral illumination, all powered from the computer USB port. Capture is intended to assist with progress monitoring of dermatology conditions, but can be used in a wide range of other aspects of general practice, in fact anywhere a picture would assist a descriptive text.

The product has come about as a result of feedback from general practice where clinicians have commented that they miss being able to do a quick sketch in the old Lloyd-George clinical notes. As well as taking a picture, the final image stored in the patient record has the facility to attach a diagrammatic notation of the location of the image, should this be unclear from the image itself.
SystmOne users should keep an eye out for Status and Change Messages for details of new integrations. TPP will post instructions of how to use such devices with SystmOne and provide details of who to contact if to purchase a particular device.
