TPP launches SystmOne products for Secondary Care, Community Hospital, Mental Health, Social Services and Out of Hours

TPP is pleased to announce the launch of SystmOne modules covering Secondary Care, Community Hospital, Mental Health, Social Services and Out of Hours care settings. TPP can now offer these new products to the market, meaning that organisations can start deployment straightaway.

The first of the new suite of products was launched in April of this year. SystmOne Out of Hours Call Centre and SystmOne Out of Hours Primary Care Centre were deployed across an entire county's Out of Hour services, with a single go live date.

Tim Coates, ICT Head of Development for NHS Direct, worked with TPP to develop the new Out of Hours Call Centre and Primary Care Centre systems. He says, "The aim was to deliver the West Yorkshire Urgent Care Single Point of Access Service. Along with others, I worked with TPP to develop the solution that we needed. TPP's attitude to the development process was extremely positive, and their responsiveness was startlingly good. The deadlines were very short but the technology was developed and delivered on time."

The success of these deployments created a flurry of interest from other OOH services across the country, several of which are due to go live in the next few weeks.

TPP's other new products, which are all due to go live shortly, are:

For hospitals that do not wish to replace their PAS all at once, but who may wish to use, for example, 18 week wait or bed management functionality, an alternative solution called 'SystmOne Lite' is available. This solution sees SystmOne interfacing with the existing PAS so that information is passed from the PAS to SystmOne, and the organisation can use SystmOne for any additional functionality not available within the PAS.

All of the new products complement the existing SystmOne products (GP, Community, Child Health, Palliative, Urgent Care, Homeless and Rehab), creating, for the first time ever, a complete patient record with information entered at any healthcare setting available to the appropriate carers at other organisations.

The new products have all been developed in-house by TPP's own experienced software engineers, and in conjunction with secondary care, social services and mental health staff and clinicians. The aim throughout has been to provide a comprehensive single system that can be used to improve patient care and streamline care processes. TPP has designed each module specifically for the setting in which it will be used, focussing on efficiency and usability at every step of the design process.

Doug Scott, Associate Director of Informatics for North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus, has been working with TPP to develop a system for Social Services. He says, "TPP has been excellent throughout this project. We are more than pleased with their responsiveness and understanding of what we're trying to do. The golden thread that underpins all discussions about organisational change within the Care Trust is shared information. Integrated care is the holy grail, and until now, we haven't been able to do it. Using SystmOne, we have an opportunity to transform the way care is provided and to deliver integrated care across primary care, social care and acute services. We can bridge the gap between health and social care, delivering the electronic social care record, without requiring a separate add-on system that sits on top. With SystmOne, we can manage a holistic record that supports the whole care pathway, and we can also access performance information about the service."

With the sharing of information must come security: "The security and governance structure around SystmOne is attractive to the Care Trust," says Doug. "The culture that comes with the SystmOne security and governance model is really beneficial. The secure platform, Smart card login, and robust governance side provides a strong assurance to us."

SystmOne Social Services has been designed to support every aspect of social care. Doug concludes, "We're looking forward to having the Single Assessment Process built into the main stream of our care records in SystmOne. At the moment, lots of people are using paper to perform SAP, which isn't ideal at all. SystmOne also supports the personalisation agenda in social care, which gives clients greater control over their own care and goals."

Lee Rickles from NHS East Riding of Yorkshire, has been working with TPP to develop SystmOne for use in their Community Hospitals. He says, "It was a prime requirement of ours that our specialist teams were involved in the development to ensure that the system fulfils our needs, and we're pleased with the results. The main drivers for this project from our point of view are to have a system that fulfils the national requirement for reporting for ICD coding, and to implement further functionality such as bed management that we currently don't have. It made sense to look into using SystmOne in the Community Hospital setting because the Community Nursing teams in our area use SystmOne and any opportunity to have data shared across services benefits patient care."

TPP Director, Charlotte Knowles, says, "We're absolutely delighted to be offering these new products to the NHS; this is TPP's most exciting development yet. Working with clinicians across various secondary care, social services and mental health settings has been fascinating for us; their input and feedback has been vital to the products' development. It is not unusual for secondary care organisations to use a combination of software systems, plus some old paper processes, to perform simple tasks that SystmOne by itself can do much more efficiently. It's great to see their reaction when we present one single system that does more than all their existing systems put together. The potential for service transformation that SystmOne brings is phenomenal."
