Sheffield PCT Project Officer Chats for Meadowhead School
Rebecca Pierce, Project Officer for Sheffield PCT, recently won £2,000 by offering advice to other users on SystmOne Chatrooms. She is donating the money to Meadowhead School, Sheffield.

Rebecca Pierce and Manohar Raju, Deputy Headteacher at Meadowhead School.
SystmOne Chatrooms provide a forum for healthcare professionals to communicate, ask questions and share ideas. The 'Chatting for Charity' scheme sees TPP's Support team awarding points to users who provide useful and accurate advice to others. At the end of each quarter, the person with the most points wins £2,000 to be donated to the charity of their choice. Receiving her prize, Rebecca said, "I think it's quite fun but I don't try to win the points - I'm not that competitive! The Chatrooms are good because you can find out more about something, and then go off and explore for yourself. I use Chatrooms to keep my knowledge of current issues up-to-date, after all, I can't help other people if I don't know something myself!"
Rebecca chose to donate the £2,000 money to Meadowhead school because, "I'm Secretary of the Home and School Association at Meadowhead. One of my children attends the school and the other one has left there now. As a parent, I've been involved in fundraising for the charity for many years. They built a new PFI building last year after being promised one since two schools merged there in the '70s."
Manohar Raju, Meadowhead's Deputy Headteacher, accepted the cheque saying, "It is great that the school is supported in this way and we're very grateful to Rebecca for donating this to us. Fund-raising by the Home and School Association over a period of time has enabled us to provide benches and plants in the school's reception area. We think that this money from TPP will go towards a large plasma television screen in the reception area which we would use to showcase the students' work and also school events, newsletters, information amongst many other things."
“It’s great when we see people helping each other out on Chatrooms,” says Alex Gladwell, TPP’s Support Manager. “Helpful user points show the user with the query that they can trust the advice of the person helping them out.”
From one phoenix to another… Coincidentally, the school's symbol is a phoenix (pictured), which, according to Mr Raju shows that the school has risen again and been brought into the 21st century with its new building. The Phoenix Partnership (TPP) hopes that the Chatting for Charity money will help keep the school flying high.
