SystmOne and Numed Capture Integration Now Available
The Numed Capture integration has been successfully piloted and is now available to any SystmOne users with the Numed Capture camera and software.
Numed Image Capture takes digital pictures and stores them directly into the patient’s electronic medical record. The complete process can easily be performed in less than a minute.
Numed Image Capture is a no-nonsense ‘point and shoot’ solution using a unique USB digital camera with integrated variable illumination and fully automatic focus. It is supplied with an adjustable desk stand ensuring pictures of the highest quality. The stand also doubles as a convenient camera storage cradle.
An anatomical diagram can be stored with the image to indicate the precise location of the image as this will not always be obvious from the image itself. The filed image is also annotated with patient demographics, image title and clinician’s name as well as the date and time of the captured image. This eliminates any confusion as to who the image relates to, particularly if sent for a second opinion.
As the images are stored in standard image file formats, they can be viewed directly from the Medical Record on any terminal. The images are also Choose and Book compatible.
How it works
The Image Capture software is started directly from SystmOne, where upon it will automatically acquire patient demographics of the clinical system’s currently loaded patient. The user can then optionally specify a title for the image to be captured.
The Capture PC software then enters the image preview mode where a ‘live’ image from the camera can be viewed on the computer screen.
The image can then be captured by the camera. This image is either an immediate capture following the click of an on-screen button, or a capture after a user-defined delay of up to 10 seconds.
There is also an option to capture a multiple set of five images over a period of about 2.5 seconds. The best image, as selected by the user, is stored into the patient record. This feature is particularly useful in situations such as capturing quality images of the eye, as shots with the eye closed due to blinking can be easily discarded. It is also a very useful feature for patients with tremor.
Once the image has been captured, anatomical diagrams can be marked with one or more crosses, showing the precise location of the image. This is particularly useful in close up shots where it may not be obvious which part of the body has been photographed.
Finally the image and anatomical diagram are saved and the user is given the option to add a comment to the consultation before filing it back to SystmOne.
The software setting menu allows the user to define the type of file format used to store the image (JPEG, BMP, PNG or TIFF) and whether or not to include the clinician name, the patient name and the patient number as an automatic annotation on the image.
