Kent GP-led Centres Pick SystmOne

Two GP-led health centres in Kent have chosen SystmOne as their clinical system. The centres are two of the 152 open-access centres which are to be opened across England following Lord Darzi's Next Stage Review of the NHS, offering scheduled and unscheduled appointments to both registered and unregistered patients.

The centres in Medway and Swale, run by London-based Dulwich Medical Centre, will use SystmOne to support their open-access services, providing GP services 12 hours a day, seven days a week. New premises are currently being built to house the open-access services. Once open, staff there will begin to use SystmOne.

TPP Customer Relationship Manager, Cairen Ball, says, "Contrary to previous media reports, the centres will be using SystmOne for all of their GP-led services for registered patients. Their unregistered patients (Out of Hours Services) are being catered for by another system."

Cairen continues, "The centres will operate over multiple sites, so SystmOne's flexibility and central hosting make it a great solution for them. TPP has been working with both the PCT and the Practice Manager to ensure that their clinical system is in place and ready for use as soon as they are open for business. Staff have already begun extensive training on SystmOne to make sure that once the service opens, they can concentrate on providing the best patient care."

Sabina Grzeda, Practice Manager for DMC – Medway GP Led Health Centre, commented “We are looking forward to working with SystmOne; we feel the clinical system is ideal for general practice needs. We hope that in the future we will be able to use one dedicated programme to handle both unregistered and registered patients throughout all DMC health centres.”

Similar centres have already gone live on SystmOne in Bradford & Airedale Teaching, Middlesbrough, Derby City, Leicester City Teaching, Northamptonshire, and Bedfordshire PCTs, and another 20 are in the process of going live.
