SystmOne Briefcase Piloting Now
TPP has previously reported on the development of SystmOne Briefcase, a new way of accessing patient records when a connection to SystmOne is not available.
Since our last announcement, TPP has worked closely with CSC and CFH to develop SystmOne Briefcase, and are pleased to say that official testing is now complete and the pilot phase has now begun in North Lincolnshire.
SystmOne Briefcase is a solution which allows users with laptops to use SystmOne to view and amend patient records without being connected to a network or the SystmOne server. This could be particularly useful on home visits in rural locations where a wireless connection is not available. Patient records are 'checked out' to a user's 'Briefcase', then 'checked in' again when the user is in a position to connect to the server.
This means that clinicians can enter data at the time of the consultation rather than retrospectively, which is likely to lead to better data quality, and time savings.
Using Briefcase, users will be able to view the patient's New Journal, problems and medication and will be able to add free text notes, create Problem Headers, complete Read-coded templates and create Reminders.
Moving patients to the Briefcase is easy - users simply add a button to their tool bar. When checking patients in or out of the Briefcase, users will be prompted to enter a password. When on the visit, users log on to SystmOne Briefcase with a Smart card and Briefcase password. They then retrieve the patient from the Briefcase Home screen, view the record and add data. Back on the live version of SystmOne, users go to the Briefcase Home screen and check the patients back in, saving all new data to the centrally held record.
More details about what users will need to do if they wish to use SystmOne Briefcase will be made available after the pilot is successfully completed. SystmOne users can look out for SystmOne Status Messages for more information.
