How does it work?

SystmOne is a single unified database available to all healthcare professionals.

The richest patient record is currently held by the GP in Primary Care; this is the GP's Electronic Patient Record (EPR). When a patient is treated away from the GP surgery, for example, at a Secondary Care Out-Patients Unit or a Mental Health Unit, these places will also have their own EPRs on the patient. The task is to pull together all the pertinent parts of any existing EPRs and make them available as one single Electronic Health Record.

SystmOne does just this. The result is a comprehensive EPR held on a central database accessible either in whole or part by other sectors and services. Medical records include all consultations, drug issues, patient and doctor communications, vaccinations and pathology results. Thanks to the scanning system, it is also possible to attach documents to the patient record leading to a more efficient, paperless branch.

Security:

The data is held in a Secure Application Block (SAB). The reality is that the patients’ records are much safer in this environment than on your own local server. The SAB provides a secure and powerful solution guaranteed by the company’s 24-hour support. This includes state of the art Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, highly redundant networks and advanced monitoring systems ensuring the customers’ maximum uptime. All communication between the client/server is 128 bit encrypted.

Confidentiality:

There are some very subtle considerations taken into account when designing the database and underlying architecture that allows sharing of records. Sharing of records is done by the sharer creating views or filters of the record that he/she wants the department or individual shared with to see.
