SystmOne is a success story for our practice. We’re happy with it and glad that we made the move when we did. We’re still learning new things but everyone in the practice agrees that things are better now that we’re using SystmOne.

Before we made the change to SystmOne, I was nervous. When something’s new, you worry about what will happen, but we’ve been live for three months now and it’s all absolutely fine. The trainers have been very good. The system is much better than we anticipated, much more straightforward. After the initial week or so of getting used to it, we realised how much better SystmOne is than our old system.

The GMS alerts have been very helpful to us. Data is more accurate and is easier to retrieve than on our old system. Since we started using SystmOne, we’ve seen improvements in our GMS figures across the board.

Running a report on SystmOne is a breeze. On our old system it would take a couple of hours to run a report. On SystmOne, the same report takes just a couple of minutes. That’s made our lives at the practice a lot easier.

I like the overall organisation of SystmOne. It’s useful to get the Status Messages in the morning, keeping you up-to-date with what’s happening on the system. I like the things that SystmOne does for you, like sending flu reports directly to the Department of Health, and sending the QMAS updates every month. These are things that we had to do ourselves on our previous system and which took up a lot of time. SystmOne deals with these for us.

When I’m not sure of how to do something on SystmOne, I can generally work it out because everything follows a logical path. Having said that, it’s nice to be able to refer to the Online Help if I’ve forgotten how to do something. It’s a quick way of finding the answers that I need.

On my previous system, I needed to call the Helpdesk quite a lot. Since I’ve been using SystmOne, I have rarely needed to. When I have used the Helpdesk, I’ve had no problems with the service I’ve received.

When we got involved, SystmOne was new to North Kirklees. The move onto SystmOne has brought us closer to other local practices that are going through the same process. We’ve been able to use each other, sharing questions and ideas. As we’ve become aware of other practices changing to SystmOne, we’ve been able to reassure them and say, ‘Don’t worry.’ I think we’ll continue to do this as more practices come onto the system.

We’ve had one or two visits from practices who don’t use SystmOne. When something new comes along, people tend to be sceptical about it. Then, when they see one or two people going with it, they think it’s worth having a look at the system in use before they make the commitment themselves. The people who have come to have a look have been quite impressed. SystmOne is so different from the legacy systems that it does take a while to get used to but I would definitely recommend it to other practices.
