SystmOne Hospital

SystmOne Hospital has been developed in conjunction with clinicians working in the NHS today. The software supports both clinical and administrative work processes as well as patient management, creating a seamless patient journey from the moment the patient is referred to hospital or contacts A&E, to the moment their care is passed back to the GP.

Realising the vision
The government's vision for healthcare IT in this country sees integration as key - making sure that the systems in place provide the right information to the right people at the right time, whether that's in a primary, secondary, mental health or social care setting. Until now, this vision has not been possible, and has even been characterised by NHS staff as 'the holy grail'.

TPP has now realised the vision of integrated care.

SystmOne is the first system to deliver fully integrated care across all care settings. A patient's full electronic clinical record can be made available at any point of care, ensuring that decisions are supported by the full knowledge base about that person.

SystmOne Hospital is central to the vision of joined-up care as it has the potential to replace a multitude of co-existing systems, many of which are paper-based, with one single solution, providing full clinical and administrative support to hospital staff in their day-to-day tasks, as well as making patient information available when and where it is needed.

SystmOne 'Lite'
As replacing many systems with one may be a daunting prospect, organisations have the option to take whichever sections of SystmOne Hospital they need, with the ability to roll it out for other functions or to other departments at a later date. For example, an organisation may wish to be able to use SystmOne for ADT messaging, to view the clinical record, and to use the discharge functionality but keep their existing processes in other areas.

Features
The features of SystmOne Hospital are:

Prescribing
SystmOne Hospital supports prescribing throughout the patient journey, such as once only, on admission, as required, IV,  regular, variable dose, and 'to take out' drugs. Staff can also produce drug charts to allow for paper-based prescribing.

Record access
As use of SystmOne is widespread in primary care, users of SystmOne in an acute setting have the potential to access a full detailed patient record. Where the patient has an existing record on SystmOne, their consent is sought to view it. Having access to a patient's medical history is essential to clinical decision making, for example, giving the clinician information on current medications and allergies. Better access to information results in better patient care.

Multi-resource scheduling
SystmOne takes the effort out of planning multiple resources such as beds and theatres, automatically offering solutions to fit complex requirements and timeframes.

Capacity planning
SystmOne's intelligent capacity planning system 'learns' from previous activity to forecast future activity. When recording information about a patient's care, SystmOne's inbuilt statistical analysis enables it to offer users the options that are most relevant for the pathway being followed.

Electronic discharge
All discharge messages are managed through SystmOne, whether they are sent electronically to GPs who also use SystmOne, or via DTS messaging/fax to those who don't.

Users can see the progress of these messages and can easily manage any message failures to ensure that all GPs receive the discharge information.

Workflow
SystmOne allows users to see at a glance where patients are and what work needs doing, making it easy to track a patient's progress from waiting list to admission and treatment.

Care plans can be set up and applied with any frequency. Pending care plan instructions for all patients can be seen and managed from a single screen.

SystmOne's flexible handover functionality ensures that patient care continues seamlessly over shift changeovers, whether workloads are transferred directly from one staff member to another or are split or combined.

Reporting
SystmOne allows hospitals to report on activity in the organisation. CDS extracts provide organisations with all the information they need to submit to monitor performance and achieve payments.

The NHS' 18 week wait referral to treatment pathway aims to make sure that all patients receive high quality elective care without any unnecessary delay. SystmOne supports this initiative by ensuring that all activity can be measured against the 18 week wait, and can be reported on.

SystmOne's user-friendly reporting interface makes it simple to set up even the most complex reports. A comprehensive library of pre-defined reports, including statutory reports, is also supplied for users to build on. Accurate reports can be run at any time, without impacting on the rest of the organisation, and the results can be broken down for easy analysis.
